Project description

The owner of a late-life asset needed to change outlet valves in a concrete structural support tank. Based on the solutions and technical know-how, IK Topside performed a FEED study and was awarded the contract for EPC and installation offshore. 

The following keywords describe the steps taken to perform the work safely and effectively:  

• Installed new ball valve and adapters to create a safe hot tap barrier   
• Hot-tapped blind flange/butterfly valve disc and removed the coupons via the installed Ball valve   
• Installed and activated a double barrier extended plug to isolate the tank   
• Replaced valve while keeping the extended plug activated
